Alicia Molik
Alicia Molik, born January 27, 1981, in Adelaide, is a former Australian professional tennis player and coach. Known for her powerful serve and aggressive playing style, Molik reached a career-high singles ranking of World No. 8 in February 2005.
Molik enjoyed significant success on both the singles and doubles circuits. Her career highlights include winning the bronze medal in women’s singles at the 2004 Athens Olympics, capturing the 2004 Zurich Open and 2005 Sydney International titles, and reaching the quarterfinals of the 2005 Australian Open. In doubles, she won two Grand Slam titles — the 2005 Australian Open and the 2007 French Open (both with Svetlana Kuznetsova) — and achieved a career-high doubles ranking of World No. 6.
After retiring from professional play, Molik became a respected figure in Australian tennis administration, coaching and the media. She served as captain of the Australian Billie Jean King Cup (formerly Fed Cup) team, helping mentor emerging players and strengthening Australia’s presence in international women’s tennis. Molik is currently the Tournament Director for the Adelaide International, a key member of the Channel 9 commentary team and continues to work with the WTA on key initiatives including the WTA Finals tournament in Saudi Arabia.
Beyond the court, Molik has been an advocate for athlete wellbeing and women’s sport, regularly contributing to development programs across Australia. Molik now lives in Perth, Western Australia with her husband and two children and continues to stay involved in tennis both in Australia and internationally.
