Milla Brown
Pushing the boundaries of women’s surfing
Australian Milla “Coco” Brown is part of an exciting new generation of female surfing talent. Alongside names such as Molly Picklum, Sierra Kerr, Erin Brooks and Caity Simmers, Milla is changing the landscape for women’s surfing, pushing the boundaries of what is possible and matching her male counterparts in aerial ability and tube riding.
Born in 2007 and from Newport, New South Wales, Australia, Milla began surfing at the young age of two, inspired by her older sister. Milla quickly developed a passion for the sport and set her sights on a professional surfing career.
Milla’s rise through competitive surfing has been marked by standout achievements, including victories in 2022 at the Australian U16 Girls National Championship and in 2023 at the Skullcandy Pro Junior U18 division. She has twice represented the Irukandjis on the world stage, competing at the 2023 ISA World Junior Games and the 2025 ISA World Games. Milla has also made history as the winner of the first-ever Women’s Natural Selection Surf in 2025.
Beyond competition, Milla has garnered attention for her dynamic surfing style and in September 2024, she released a profile film titled “Odyssey,” showcasing her skills during a trip to the Mentawai Islands, leading her to be featured in Stab’s “Best Waves of 2024” edit. Her vibrant personality, natural beauty and prowess in the water have attracted brand partnerships from top tier global brands including Roxy, Monster and Sun Bum.
Milla maintains an active presence on social media, particularly on Instagram under the handle @milla.coco.brown, where she shares not only her surfing career, but her passions for skateboarding, snowboarding and guitar. Her creative lifestyle, engaging personality, and dedication make her a powerful role model for the next generation.
