Pat Rafter

2x Grand Slam Champion | 2002 Australian of The Year | Tennis Champion

Pat Rafter, born in Mount Isa, Queensland, Australia, has always been passionate about sports and competing. Early on, Pat found his love for tennis, capturing the attention of coaches and scouts for his natural athleticism and raw talent, before making his debut in the 1990’s on the international circuit.

Rafter quickly rose to fame and achieved success, adored for his unique serve-and-volley game, incredible sportsmanship, and prowess on multiple surfaces.

Throughout his illustrious career, Rafter achieved numerous milestones and accolades, including winning back to back US Open Grand Slam titles (1997 & 1998), reaching two Wimbledon finals (2000 & 2001), leading Australia to two Davis Cup victories (1999 & 2003), winning two Olympic Medals, achieving the ATP #1 ranking and claiming 11 ATP Tour titles, cementing his name as one of Australia’s best tennis players ever.

In addition to his on-court success, Rafter was respected from fans and peers around the world for his sportsmanship. He won the ATP Sportsmanship Award four times during his playing career for his humility and commitment to philanthropic activities. Rafter was well known for making charitable donations to children’s organisations, and donated half of the money from his two US Open Grand Slam wins to the Starlight Children’s Foundation.

These days, Rafter is a family man who lives in Byron Bay NSW and is passionate about giving back to the sport of tennis, sustainability and environmental causes and supporting young people achieve their dreams.
