Declan O’Donovan
Hailing from Sydney, Australia and a member of the storied Avondale Golf Club in NSW, Declan O’Donovan’s rise in the sport of golf has been equal parts rapid and calculated.
Declan announced himself on the world amateur golf stage with victory at the Canadian Men’s Amateur Championship in July 2025 in a thrilling playoff; a win that also saw him tee up in the RBC Canadian Open on the PGA Tour where he held his own against one of the strongest PGA Tour fields in 2026 including Fleetwood, Kim, Morikawa and Theegala. International Amateur representation for Australia also shaped his development and set him up brilliantly for his professional transition. He competed at the prestigious Eisenhower Trophy (where he finished 2nd as an individual), Nomura Cup and Asia Pacific Amateur events (where Australia finished 2nd as a team) clearly signaling to the golfing world that he was then ready to step into the professional ranks.
Declan turned professional in November 2025 and in his professional debut at the prestigious NSW Open played in the final group in the final round. Then just 3 months into his professional career and after just seven starts, claimed his first professional victory by a commanding 5 shots at the Webex Players Series Sydney. A mere 6 years from picking up a golf club to winning a professional tournament. The win also followed an impressive third place finish at the Webex Players Series Murray River just a week earlier.
Deeply driven by ambitious goals, Declan is working towards earning playing rights on the world’s leading tours including the PGA Tour (US) and the DP World Tour (European). Every tournament and Qualifying School round in his upcoming schedule provides another opportunity to learn, improve and move closer to competing regularly on golf’s biggest stages.
As his professional career continues to gather momentum, Declan represents the next generation of Australian golf. He has the combination of raw talent, dedication and ambition and a character and qualities required to succeed on the global golfing stage.
