Trent Cotchin
Trent Cotchin is one of the most respected leaders of the modern era of Australian Rules Football, best known as the inspirational captain of Richmond Football Club during their historic premiership dynasty.
A No.2 draft pick in 2007, Trent went on to play 305 AFL games across a 16-year career, captaining the Tigers from 2013 to 2021 and leading the club to three premierships in 2017, 2019 and 2020. Widely regarded for his selfless, team-first leadership, he sits among an elite group of AFL/VFL captains to have led their club to three flags.
Individually, Trent’s career is equally decorated. He is a Brownlow Medallist (2012), three-time Richmond Best & Fairest winner, and an All-Australian, recognised for his consistency, courage and professionalism at the highest level.
Beyond his on-field achievements, Trent is known for his authentic leadership style and deep commitment to team culture, connection and personal growth, values that underpinned Richmond’s success.
Since retiring at the end of the 2023 season, Trent has transitioned seamlessly into media, business and personal development, including a leadership mentoring role with the Brisbane Lions, bringing the same insight, discipline and approachability that defined his playing career. A proud father to three kids, he is an investor and owner in CorePlus Studios and co-founder of Posisocks alongside his wife Brooke – a purpose-driven sock company focused on making a positive difference in people’s lives.
A proven leader in high-performance environments, Trent Cotchin is a sought-after speaker and ambassador, offering unique perspectives on leadership, resilience, habit forming and building winning cultures.
